When someone asks you to show \u201cmercy\u201d to a man who has abused his position, ask them what they believe mercy is.

Abusing\u00a0 power that flows from one’s position in a church is grievous sin that is disqualifying. Abuse of power shows that power has become akin to an\u00a0 addictive drug. Is it mercy to allow a man to remain where he will continue to have access to his drug of choice and continue to pile up sins for the judgment? Or is it mercy to remove him from that position that he might truly repent and know the depths of the true mercy of God?<\/p>\n
