Thought for the day

How much of your Christian life is for show?

“And when you pray, you must not be like the hypocrites. For they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and at the street corners, that they may be seen by others. Truly, I say to you, they have received their reward.”  Matt.6:8

This is a constant temptation to those who have positions where much of their service is in the spotlight, but can be a temptation for all of us. Some questions for reflection: Do you see some acts as not “in your wheelhouse” and “not a wise use of your time?” If you are honest with yourself, do you actually see them as beneath you? Is more of your time spent hobnobbing with the  influential than with those who are in need or different than you or who require patience?  Jesus taught crowds but also cared for outcasts. He did servant level work of washing feet. Does your ministry look like his?
