“If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing…Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. ” 1 Cor. 13:1-2; 8
God’s word does not return empty without accomplishing his purposes (Is. 55:11) , which is why it’s possible to get something out of a sermon preached by a messenger who is otherwise just making noise. A “good sermon” can be preached by someone who has failed the test of love. You need a pastor who can preach truth and who loves like Jesus.
