For I the Lord love justice; I hate robbery and wrong;
I will faithfully give them their recompense,
and I will make an everlasting covenant with them.
Their offspring shall be known among the nations,
and their descendants in the midst of the peoples;
all who see them shall acknowledge them,
that they are an offspring the Lord has blessed. Is.61:8-9
What is driving the restoration to wholeness? God’s love of justice.
He hates robbery and wrong. Many who have been spiritually abused were robbed of their reputations and of their bonds with others in the congregations by the false narratives of the leaders they should have been able to trust. The word translated “wrong” here is connected with burnt offerings. (See ESV footnote and other translations.) What connection might there be with Matt. 5:23-24?
Many children of adults who experience spiritual abuse are also harmed. God’s words of restoration includes a promise of blessing for them.
