Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God. Matt. 5:9

But what about the peace-fakers?  “They dress the wound of my people as though it were not serious. ‘Peace, peace,’ they say, when there is no peace.” NIV   Jer. 6:14 all versions     The  context is one of self-gain, false dealing, and lack of shame among spiritual leaders.

True peacemaking, the kind that brings about reconciliation, is costly.

Peace-faking puts on a pretense of healing with “nice” words while whitewashing sin. It costs the peace-faker nothing but deepens the harm to the wounded.
